The South Development and Sustainable Lantau Office (SSLO) was set up on 23 May 2025 under the merger of the former Sustainable Lantau Office (SLO) and the former South Development Office (SDO). SSLO is mainly responsible for the planning, assessment, design and implementation of various initiatives to foster the sustainable development of Lantau, Hong Kong Island and West Kowloon as well as the conservation of Lantau. This will benefit Hong Kong people by providing new opportunities associated with land and housing supply, economic development, commerce and trade, leisure, recreation and tourism, and at the same time enhancing the conservation of our natural, cultural and heritage resources.
