Tai O and Tung Chung organise Cantonese opera performances and flowery rocket clubs to celebrate the birthday of Hau Wong (Yeung Hau).
The Tai O Hau Wong Festival Committee holds the Hau Wong Festival from the 4th to the 7th days of the sixth lunar month every year. An opera troupe is hired to perform Cantonese opera to thank the deities. The rituals consist of inviting deities, celebrations and sale of blessed objects by auction, etc.
The Tung Chung Rural Committee holds the Hau Wong Festival from the 17th to the 20th days of the eighth lunar month every year. An opera troupe is hired to perform Cantonese opera to thank the deities. The rituals consist of inviting deities, fa pau (paper floral tribute) association worshipping, sending off deities, etc.
