| Temples are not only places of worship but also vessels that carry rich history and culture. The South Development and Sustainable Lantau Office explores the cultural characteristics of Lantau's temples to preserve the island's heritage. Riding on historical documents and scholarly works, we study the history of these temples, their layouts, architectural styles, objects and craftsmanship. We also conduct field surveys to trace the relationships among different temples, their deities, and the local communities. The exhibition "Lantau Temples Tell Stories" showcases 19 selected temples on Lantau Island through text, images, models, 3D prints, and drone videos, highlighting the stories of Lantau temples over the past several centuries. |
