The ecological studies aim to collect ecological information of sites of ecological importance outside Country Parks on Lantau for assessing the ecological significance of these areas, identifying ecological threats and exploring the feasibility of various conservation measures. They are conducted in three batches according to their priorities.
- First batch study: "Ecological Study for Pui O, Shui Hau, Tai O and Neighbouring Areas – Feasibility Study"
- Second batch study: "Ecological Surveys and Studies for San Tau to Sham Wat, Yi O and Shap Long – Feasibility Study"
- Third batch study: "Ecological Study for 12 Sites on Lantau – Feasibility Study"
Scope of Works
- Reviewing the existing ecological information and conducting ecological surveys within the Study Area for assessing the ecological significance of different areas.
- Identifying and assessing the existing and potential ecological threats within the Study Area and recommending appropriate conservation measures to restore and enhance the ecological resources.

Current Progress
The first and second batch studies were completed. The Executive Summary of the studies are available on CEDD website for public viewing. The third batch study is planned to commence in early 2025.
